According to the University of Arkansas's Athletic Training program, the graduate program prepares individuals to function as scientists, educators and practitioners as athletic trainers in providing quality health care to injured active individuals. The mission of the department is to enhance interdisciplinary cooperation and assist departmental faculty in securing competitive external funding in the form of contracts and grants. These endeavors enable the department to advance knowledge and thus the discipline. It is the mission of the athletic training program to validate and expand the existing body of knowledge in athletic training through scientific inquiry.
