French (FREN)
According to the University of Arkansas Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures, "French is the second most frequently taught foreign language in the world, following English, and it continues to be one of the official languages of dozens of international organizations. It is also the only other language–again, besides English–that is spoken on five continents. French is truly a global language, crucial for students of business, international relations, and politics, as well as those of literature and culture.
At the undergraduate level, we offer a WLLC Major in French and a minor. At the graduate level, we offer an M.A. We encourage study abroad for our majors and minors and are pleased to offer our own UA summer program in Grenoble, France."
