Make an Appointment
There are 3 ways to schedule an appointment.
- Online: Log in to Handshake. Click "Appointments" tab.
- Phone: All students can call 479-575-2805. Walton College students call 479-575-6100.
- In-Person: All students can stop by our office in ARKU 607. Walton College students stop by WJWH 226
All appointments (except those with Engineering, Fay Jones, and Walton counselors) will take place in the University Career Development Center in-person, by telephone, by email, or by webcam. The University Career Development Center is located in the Arkansas Union at the Nola Holt Royster Suite (Arkansas Union 607). Engineering majors will meet with Kelsey Lavigne in Bell 3158. Students in the Fay Jones School will meet with Susan Pospisil in 27 Vol Walker Hall. Walton students who make an appointment with the Sam M. Walton College of Business Career Development Center will meet in WALK 226.
To help teach professionalism to students and best use the CDC's resources, we have developed an Appointment No-Show Policy. By scheduling an appointment, you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
Due to the confidential nature of our appointments, parents or friends of the student requesting an appointment will not be allowed to attend career counseling sessions. Many times our life decisions can be influenced by external factors like our family and friends. As an adult, it is important to be able to articulate and target what it is YOU want in these appointments.
Types of Appointments
When making your appointment please specify which type of appointment you would like to schedule. If you aren’t sure or if you want to address multiple topics, choose “General Career Counseling”.
Discuss the results of your Focus 2 Assessment, TypeFocus, or StrengthsQuest Assessment. Assessments must be completed prior to scheduling your appointment. View a list of assessments and instructions on our website on the “Explore Majors & Careers” tab under “Students.”
Meet with your CTR coach in person, by email, by telephone, or by webcam to discuss your goals and/or update your progress in the CTR program. Before your appointment, review the CTR requirements and watch videos available on the same page.
Undecided on your major? Thinking of switching majors, but are unsure about your decision? Start here with one of our Career Counselors. We can discuss options, introduce you to tools that can help, and walk you through decision-making strategies. Before your appointment, review the list of available UA majors in the Catalog of Studies. Please Note: This appointment is for students who would like help DECIDING on a major, NOT to declare or change your major. See your Academic Advisor to change or declare your major.
This appointment is for College of Engineer students who already have secured an internship or coop and are seeking information about receiving academic credit for their experience. Depending on major, students may be eligible to receive technical elective credit for their experience.
Please bring a paper copy of your cover letter with you to your appointment. If you are applying for a specific job, internships, or graduate program please bring the job/internship posting or graduate school information with you as well. Before your appointment, please review our online information about cover letters.

This is the last step for a final portfolio check before sending it off to firms.
Choose this appointment if no other appointment types fit your needs or you have more than one appointment type you'd like to discuss in your appointment. (Example: You want to discuss job search options and have your resume reviewed during the appointment.)
Get help searching and applying for graduate or professional school programs, including personal statement and CV reviews. Please note that if you want help with writing your personal statement from the beginning instead of a review of an already written personal statement, you should contact Class + Writing Support or view their Personal Statement Tips Sheet.
For students with questions or are seeking advice about interviews without conducting a mock interview.
Discuss strategies for finding a job, internships, or co-op such as networking, Handshake, Career Fairs etc. Before your appointment, log into Handshake.
Applying for professional school such as Medical, Dental, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Veterinarian, or other? Practice before your real interview in the Career Development Center! ! Your interview will be evaluated using the mock interview rating form.
Choose this appointment if you'd like to practice for an upcoming job or internship interview. While dressing professionally is important for your interview, do not let this requirement prevent you from making an appointment for a mock interview.
At least 24 hours before your appointment, email a copy of your resume and a link to the job or internship description to your interviewer. Your mock interview will be evaluated using this Mock Interview Rating Form.
Choose this appointment if you'd like to practice for an upcoming graduate school admissions or department interview. While dressing professionally is important for your interview, do not let this requirement prevent you from making an appointment for a mock interview.
At least 24 hours before your appointment, email a copy of your personal statement and a link of the graduate school program/department to your interviewer. Your mock interview will be evaluated using this Mock Interview Rating Form.
Schedule a free 10-minute photo session in the University Career Development Center to look your best on your professional school applications. Photos taken are emailed immediately after your appointment.

The Strong Interest Inventory is based on the idea that individuals are more satisfied and productive when they work in jobs or at tasks that they find interesting and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own. The Strong Interest Inventory Assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete online and should be completed at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Call the main office at 479-575-2805 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a username and password to be able to take the Strong Interest Inventory. There is a $10 charge for this assessment for current UA students. UA alumni and non-UA students must pay a $20 fee to take this assessment.
Once you have taken the assessment, this appointment allows you to receive the results of your Strong Assessment and discuss career options with a Strong Certified Career Counselor based on your results. You will receive a paper or electronic copy of your results in your appointment. Payment is required on the day of your appointment.
