PROFILE
How did you get started in the Career Services profession? While completing my M.Ed in Counseling here at the university, I applied to do an internship in the Career Development Center, soon after that I became a graduate assistant and eventually was hired as a career counselor. I've enjoyed working as a career counselor ever since then. Describe a “typical work day” in the Career Center. Most of my days are filled with individual counseling appointments with students. I may be talking with them about choosing a major, taking a career assessment test, preparing a resume, or finding an internship or job. I also teach four sections of a Career Exploration Class (VAED 1011), present numerous career related workshops to classes, and assist with career events and job fairs. What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? I enjoy many outdoor activities, especially golf. I am learning to garden. Also enjoy yoga, meditation, nutrition, and walking my five dogs. Sometimes I do some drawing and painting. What is the most interesting place you have ever visited? In my earlier day I spent three months living on the Isle of Mallorca off the coast of Spain. It is a beautiful place and I saw some incredible storms come in from the ocean. What do you like best about living in NWArkansas? I love living in a college town and enjoy all the art, culture, and sports related with the university. Fayetteville has always seemed like a very friendly place and I enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
