How did you get started in the Career Services profession?

I began working at the University of Arkansas in 2005 as a staff member for the Upward Bound program. As an Upward Bound employee, my job was to assist low-income and first generation high school students in achieving their dream of attending and graduating college. Over the years, I have developed a number of career related programs that focused on expounding students' knowledge about careers, internships, and the skills that employers most desire.

Describe a “typical work day” in the Career Center.

A typical day in the career center for me would consist of providing leadership for the marketing, assessment, and outreach for all career events. I utilize Adobe Creative Cloud, iWork and Microsoft Office to create and edit forms, flyers, and other office related documents to promote and enhance the career center. You might also find me researching and incorporating innovative ways to help students realize the importance of taking advantage of the services provided by the career center staff. Students who prioritize career planning are more confident about their skillset and much more prepared for the workforce than their counterparts.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, and staying active. I also enjoy researching, creating artwork, and watching sports.

What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

The most interesting and inspiring place that I have ever visited was the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.

What do you like best about living in NWArkansas?

I like living in Northwest Arkansas because of the exciting razorback community. I am also excited to be apart of a growing large research university. Go Hogs!!!
