How did you get started in the Career Services profession?

I worked on Campus for about 2 1/2 years in the Union Administration office as the Special Events Coordinator. I met a lot of people in that position. The Career Development Center (CDC) had a wonderful staff and I always enjoyed working with them on their events in the building. I began working for the CDC in fall 2010 as the Office Support Manager. I have also worked as the Career Programs Assistant and currently work as the Employer Relations Coordinator for the Center.

Describe a “typical work day” in the Career Center.

Every day is different, no two days are the same. I work with the three Directors of Employer Relations for the U of A in the College of Engineering, Fulbright College and Bumpers College. I accept and modify job postings in Razorback Career Link. I work with Employers in posting their positions and setting up OCR/interview schedules, set up information sessions, tabling, and schedule interview rooms for them to come to campus to meet with UA students. Answering questions regarding our career fairs, and answering student questions is also a part of my day.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. The holidays are very special to me. I love to travel and experience new places. I enjoy cooking and watching college football!

What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

Oahu, Hawaii is the most interesting and beautiful place I have had the opportunity to explore and visit. Wading in the ocean with Hawaiian green sea turtles a few feet from you and swimming with dolphins were awesome experiences. Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater were both moving and unforgettable. And, the lush scenery, waterfalls, beautiful mountain ranges, sandy beaches, and the fresh pineapple were amazing.

What do you like best about living in NWArkansas?

Although I love beach settings, I love the Boston Mountains, too. The mountains turn beautiful shades of yellows, oranges, and reds in the fall - simply gorgeous! Fayetteville is a beautiful college town nestled in the hills and mountains of Northwest Arkansas. Working at the University, I am fortunate to meet and interact with students of various backgrounds.
