How did you get started in the Career Services profession?

After receiving my bachelor’s degree I spent two years teaching English in Japan, and even though I enjoyed teaching, I enjoyed the individual interaction I had with students before or after class even more. Therefore, in order to have the opportunity to work with students individually, I decided upon my return to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in counseling. My first position after obtaining my master’s degree gave me the opportunity to provide both personal and career counseling to college students. Although I did enjoy the personal counseling my true passion, I discovered, was career counseling.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Being a health enthusiast, I enjoy biking on the Fayetteville Multi-Purpose Trail, running and swimming at the HPER and shopping for organic food at Ozark Natural Foods.

What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

I had the opportunity to not only visit, but to also live on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Kauai, known as the Garden Island, is one of most breathtaking, beautiful and least developed of the Hawaiian Islands.

What do you like best about living in NWArkansas?

I enjoy the diversity of the people who have chosen to make this area their home.
