How did you get started in the Career Services profession?

I actually had my first experience in the Career Services profession as a Graduate Assistant at Northwestern State University in 2004 when I worked for the office of Student Affairs. After spending a few years after Graduate School in the professional sport industry, I got back into the Career Services profession in 2007 as a Career Development Specialist at Arkansas Tech University.

Describe a “typical work day” in the Career Center.

Since I am housed in the Engineering college, I don't spend much time in the Career Center, but a typical day for me would be meeting/counseling appointments with students and meeting with employers that recruit our students. I also spend 4-5 days a month traveling where I meet with employers and build better relationships so they will hopefully consider recruiting at the University of Arkansas.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When not at work I love spending time with my wife and son, playing golf, working out, and traveling.

What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

I would have to say that Tulum Mexico is one of the most interesting places I have visited. This little town sets right on the Caribbean sea, but is also home to one of the best preserved Myan Ruin sites. The beauty of the beach and the history of the Maya site in incredible.

What do you like best about living in NWArkansas?

What's not to love? The beautiful Ozark Mountains, the four seasons, calling the Hogs, and being close to family and friends makes this a perfect place to live.
