How did you get started in the Career Services profession?

I actually began working in the University Career Development Center in 1991. It was the first position I held when I completed my master's degree. I worked as a Job Developer, searching for part-time positions for UA students. I also did some career presentations and workshops. I left to take a position on campus with Student Support Services for about 8 years, and I returned to the University Career Development Center in January 2006 after completing my doctorate.

Describe a “typical work day” in the Career Center.

A typical day for me is providing some type of career advising to students, supervising staff, attending meetings with employers or UA officials, planning or attending some career event, and working on a report.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Hanging out with my husband, sons, family and friends, singing, listening to gospel music, teaching Bible Study classes, walking, reading and writing poetry.

What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

New Orleans, the sites as well as the people are all so interesting and exciting to me.

What do you like best about living in NWArkansas?

I love that I have lived here long enough to see the city make so much progress. There is more diversity of people; so much more to do, places to eat and shop. I also love that the people here are really friendly and helpful.
