Where to Find Them and How

Online. Start Using Experience, the U of A online job search system that will help you find full-time, part-time, co-op, and internship positions locally, regionally and nation-wide.

Geographically. If you want to find a job in a particular geographic location, use the chamber of commerce website for that area. You can find classified newspaper job advertisements online for specific cities. You can also locate alumni in the geographic region you are interested in by checking out the University of Arkansas alumni chapter locations and the alumni membership map.

University of Arkansas Human Resources lists all job postings for on-campus jobs, including part-time and full-time positions.

Company Websites It is highly recommended that you go directly to a company’s website to find  and apply for current job postings.

Networking. Talk to faculty members, friends and anyone else who can possibly serve as a contact for you. Internships and co-ops are excellent networking opportunities and can lead to a permanent position. Print Media. While much of the job posting world has gone online, it is still a good idea to check newspaper classified ads, U of A department bulletin boards that contain job postings, and to pick up information at job fairs.

Cold Calls. Are you interested in a particular company but you don’t have any contacts there? Do a cold call! Call them and express your interest. Ask them for a contact person so that you can send a cover letter and resume asking if they have postings that fit your background. The key to making this work is to sell them on why you are interested in THEIR company and to direct your cover letter and resume to a specific person.
