The Second Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium & Career Networking Event
Call for Student Posters – Open to all University of Arkansas Graduate Students
Posters can be entered in one of six research categories:
- Agriculture and Life Sciences
- Business
- Education
- Engineering
- Physical Sciences
- Social Sciences
$100 Cash Prize - Poster presentations will be judged and winners will be selected from each research category listed above.
December 19, 2008 - Deadline for registration
February 20, 2009 - Poster Competition Judging, AU Ballroom
March 10, 2009 from 3-5 PM – Career Development Networking Event, AU 512/513/514
March 24, 2009 from 4-6 PM – Professional Reception, Multicultural Center
To enter the competition, you must fill out a registration form and submit a 300 word maximum abstract by Friday, December 19, 2008.
This is a three-part event for graduate student participants and includes:
- Poster Presentation/Competition – practice presenting your poster in a formal conference atmosphere, judged by faculty and graduate students in your general research area
- Career Development Networking Event and Awards Ceremony – learn about finding a job after graduation, networking tips, interview advice, developing your ’30-second commercial’
- Professional Reception – meet with administrators and potential employers at a networking event designed for you. Winning posters will be displayed at the reception.
Poster Guidelines/Hints:
- Text on poster should be readable from a minimum distance of 5 feet
- Boards to display posters are 70 inches x 40 inches, and will be sitting on a table so make sure your poster will fit these dimensions
- Bring pushpins/thumbtacks/tape to mount your poster, these items will not be provided at the symposium
- You will be judged on the organization/layout/appearance of your poster as well as your presentation of the information and ability to answer questions about your research
